8 Days Mount Elgon climbing tour

Day 1 – Arrival at Entebbe
On arrival you are received and transferred to the hotel for an overnight at 2Friends Guest House/Boma Guest House (BB)

Day 2 – Entebbe – Mt Elgon (265Km)
After breakfast, we drive eastwards through Mabira forest upto Jinja. Visit the source of the river Nile and the old industrial town along the way. Lunch .After lunch continue to Sipi Falls at the bottom of Mount Elgon. Later in the afternoon you will, have a nature walk around the falls as you also enjoy the magnificent and The beautiful views of the plains.Dinner and overnight at Noah’s Ark/ The Sipi Lodge. Full Board.

Day 3 – Sipi Falls to Piswa Camp (2850m)
After breakfast drive to Kapkwata (2190m). you will meet your Guides and porters to begin the hike of Piswa Trail. Climb gently through the woodland forest on your way you will encounter some primates and birds until you reach the first camping site for the night with spectacular views of the plains and hills.Dinner and overnight at the Piswa Camp. Full Board.

Day 4 – Piswa Camp to Hunters Cave (3870m)
After breakfast you will set off for a long and steep hike to the cave located below the caldera. Here are beautiful landscapes below and above the camp. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee around the camp fire as you gaze at the stars in the African sky. Dinner and overnight at the Hunters Cave Camp Full Board.

Day 5 – From Hunters Camp – Mude Cave Camp (3500m)
In the morning, takea hike to the rim of the caldera and enjoy the magnificent view. You will trek through the marshy crater covered with streams and rivers. Continue on to the hot springs. Relax here and soak the feet in the warm water. You will then join Sasa Trail through the middle of the caldera. The volcanic landscape is breathtaking. Along the way, you encounter animals of the park. Descend to Mude Cave.Dinner and overnight at the Mude Cave Camp.Full Board.

Day 6 – Wagagai Peak – Sasa River Camp (2900m)
After breakfast you will set off for your hike directly to the summit at 4321m. The Wagagai Peak, the second highest in Uganda after Margherita (5,109m) on the Rwenzori mountains. The climb is not very steep and therefore the peak can be reached after about three hours. The top has magnificent views of the crater and across the border in Kenya.Dinner and overnight at the Sasa River Camp.Full Board.

Day 7 – Sasa River Camp (2900m) – Budadiri Ranger Station (1250m)
After breakfast, you will take a long, steep and slippery trail descending the “Wall of Death”. In the background are beautiful terraced hills below the mountain. You will walk through homesteads and local farms, to Budadiri park and transfer to Mbale town. Dinner and overnight at Mbale Resort Hotel. Full Board

Day 8 – Mbale – Kampala
After breakfast you will drive back to Kampala. Lunch en route. The day is reserved for the international flight. Half Board.
